Bristol and North Somerset jobs saved after care homes bought out of administration

Hundreds of jobs including roles in Bristol and North Somerset have been saved after 11 care homes were bought out of administration.

The homes sold include Begbrook House, Frenchay; Carlton Mansions, Clifton; Kingswood Court, Kingswood; and Yatton Hall, North Somerset.

Administrators Rebecca Dacre, Simon Chandler and Scott Bevan of advisory firm Mazars completed the sale to healthcare provider Barchester Healthcare.

The properties have been managed by Barchester since the appointment of Mazars in December 2019.

The advisory business was appointed to oversee the administration of 11 companies which operate 44 care homes formerly run by Four Seasons Health Care Group.

The remaining 33 care homes are being run by three separate management firms, and the administrators said they are expecting to sell all the sites.

Rebecca Dacre, director at Mazars, said: “Since our appointment in December 2019, Barchester Healthcare has managed 11 care homes on our behalf.

“We thank them for their efforts during this time, and we are pleased to confirm the sale of these 11 care homes, ensuring continuity of care for nearly 500 residents, and safeguarding the jobs of nearly 600 employees”.

Barchester Healthcare is an independent care provider which runs over 200 care homes and seven registered hospitals, employing more than 17,000 staff.
