Bristol and ALL neighbouring areas see rise in coronavirus cases

A further three coronavirus cases have been recorded in Bristol today (Wednesday, July 1) bringing our total to 729.

And for the first time in 22 days, every district surrounding Bristol has also seen a rise in positive-lab results for Covid-19.

Both Bath and North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire have not seen an increase since Tuesday, June 9 before today.

Public Health England's figures show South Gloucestershire now has 407 following a rise of one.

While Bath and North East Somerset also recorded a further case today, bringing the district's total to 239.

Elsewhere, North Somerset reported one more patient had tested positive for the virus, bringing its total to 492.

Coronavirus Deaths

No further deaths have been recorded by the University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Trust, which runs Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General.

The trust's total still stands at 151 - including two that were recorded at Weston General in the early days of the pandemic, before the two trusts merged.

North Bristol Trust, which runs Southmead Hospital, has recorded 119 patients who have died of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic - and the most recent recorded death there occurred one week ago (June 22).

Across the UK, 43,906 people have died after contracting the virus following a rise of 176 today.

The figures come as lockdown rules are set to be eased even further this weekend when pubs and cafes reopen across the city.
