Bristol Airport shares 12 rules for travelling to keep you safe amid coronavirus pandemic

Bosses at Bristol Airport have announced strict new social distancing rules for passengers.

It comes as England begins to ease its three-month lockdown, with holiday-makers given the go ahead to book trips to sunny European destinations such as Spain, France and Portugal

But it's worth noting some UK arrivals might have to self-isolate for 14 days when they land in France - if they're showing symptoms of being unwell.

And Portuguese Government has announced a three-stage de-escalation plan to gradually ease current confinement and mobility measures.

Anyone flying into mainland Portugal will be subject to a health screening on arrival. Visitors' temperatures will be checked, and anyone displaying symptoms will be referred to the health authorities.

With flights beginning to resemble something on a normal schedule, airport bosses have now announced a string of measures for passengers to follow.

A spokesperson said: "Health and safety is our priority. That's why we've been working hard to make sure that we're ready for the safe return of our passengers and colleagues."

Here are the airport's new measures

  • Check-in online -save time and check-in online at home
  • Arrive in good time - arrive 2 hours before scheduled departure
  • Wear a face covering - this means everywhere in the terminal
  • Bring contactless payment - for obvious reasons
  • Closer parking - this means no bus transfers
  • Only passengers can enter the terminal - to reduce numbers inside
  • Temperature scans before check-in - ensuring no unwell passengers are on your plane.
  • Distancing markers in place - clear signage markers to help keep a distance
  • Enhanced and regular cleaning - this will take place throughout the day
  • Hand sanitiser stations across the airport - make sure you keep your eyes peeled.
  • Protective shields at desks and tills - to keep you and staff safe.
  • Extra takeaway options on offer - to help keep travellers separate.
