Bristol Airport’s £4 million departure lounge redevelopment with bar and restaurant open from first to last flight

Bristol Airport announced the opening of the newly refurbished Brigg & Stow bar and restaurant today (Monday, March 13, 2023) as part of a £4million redevelopment of the airport’s departure lounge. This is ahead of what is expected to be “one of the busiest ever summer seasons”, according to the airport.

A spokesperson for Bristol Airport said that the new bar will be open every day from the first to last flight. The airport’s commercial head, Tom Hack, said: “Following an extensive investment in both the kitchen and front of house facilities from the operator, SSP, we are thrilled to open the doors to the new Brigg & Stow Bar and Kitchen at Bristol Airport.

"The facility will offer a fantastic experience for our passengers who can sample some delights from the South West region and beyond,” he said.

SSP UK & Ireland marketing director, Fi Butcher said the new venue “is a reflection of the Bristol region - from the design of the space which draws inspiration from Bristol Bridge and features graffiti-style graphics, down to the title of the outlet which is derived from Bristol’s original name of Brigg Stow. ‘Brigg Stow' means meeting place at the bridge in original Saxon,” she said.

She added that travellers are looking for more sustainable food and beverage choices. “So as much as possible we aim to work with local suppliers," she said. Our local partnerships include gin from Bristol-based, carbon neutral micro distiller, Psychopomp Microdistillery, ciders from local favourite, Thatchers Cider and cheddar cheese and breads from family run businesses, Barber’s Cheddar and Hobbs House Bakery.”
