Bristol Airport launches new covid testing service for travellers

A new covid testing service for travellers has launched at Bristol Airport.

Zava is now offering a "day 2" testing service from the airport, with the service being available for fully vaccinated customers arriving in England.

Under current rules, fully vaccinated travellers coming to England must take a covid test in the two days before entering the country and have a PCR test when arriving. People must quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

The Zava testing service will allow travellers to order their test before leaving the UK and take it with them.

It says: "When you arrive back at Bristol Airport, activate your test kit (you must do this to get results), take your test and then follow the signs to the ZAVA test kit drop box and return your completed test.

"Drop off by 3pm and get your results by 10am the next day.

"Drop off after 3pm and get your results by 8pm the next day.

"The Bristol Airport drop box is available 7 days a week across the festive period (excluding Christmas day), until at least the 31st January."

The service states that on-arrival testing works by letting travellers take their test with them, so they can take it the moment they return, adding this means "you can get results and leave quarantine as quickly as possible".

The Prime Minister has confirmed days before Christmas that no new rules will be introduced before December 25.

But he warned that scientists and ministers were watching data from the Omicron variant hour-by-hour, and he would not hesitate to introduce new rules after Christmas Day if needed.

Experts at World Health Organisation have warned of 'another storm coming' as cases surge across Europe.

And cases across Bristol and most of the UK have now hit record levels, as it is feared staff sickness will soon cripple the health service.
