With court action by his former NRL club Melbourne delaying Dave Donaghy from taking up his role with Brisbane, the Broncos have appointed Neil Monaghan as interim CEO.
Currently a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee, Monaghan will hold the position until a start date for Donaghy can be confirmed.
"This will ensure continued strong leadership for the business during this transitional phase until Mr Donaghy's commencement," Brisbane chairman Karl Morris said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange on Tuesday today.
The Storm are seeking to enforce a six-month non-compete clause which would prevent Donaghy from taking the reins at the NRL rivals until August 1.
They claim his inside knowledge could assist Brisbane in luring Melbourne's off-contract coach Craig Bellamy to the Queensland club, while he could also utilise confidential information of player contracts, salary cap structures and details of sponsor and government agreements.
The Storm have applied for an injunction in the Victorian Supreme Court.
The Broncos announced in February that Donaghy would take over from Paul White, who left the club last week after ten years in charge.
