Bring Your Dog to Work Day 2019 is next week - all you need to know

It is the day dog lovers across the UK have been waiting for.

At last employees and their pooch pals will be able to spend the whole of a week day together on Bring Your Dog to Work Day.

On June 21 offices across the country will be filled full of furry companions, all in aid of charity, The Daily Record reported.

While participants will have to get their boss's permission, once the green light is shown the event will prove to be a win:win.

All Dogs Matter and Animals Asia will be the main beneficiaries of cash collected on the day.

Those who take part in the sixth annual Bring Your Dog to Work day and donate more than £10 will be able to submit a snap of their dog for inclusion in the doggy Hall of Fame.

Hundreds of pounds of goods will the be given to the hound plucked out in a prize draw.

Not only will funds raised from the day be used to support animal welfare charities, the presence of a dog is bound to boost office morale.

The positive effects dogs can have on humans are well chronicled.

Professor Daniel Mills and Dr Sophie Hall, from the University of Lincoln, conducted research on the mental well being boost associated with contact with mutts.

“Animal companionship is potentially more cost-effective and socially acceptable than technological solutions," they said.

"Companion animals should not be considered a luxury or unnecessary indulgence, but rather, when cared for appropriately, they should be seen as valuable contributors to human health and wellbeing and, as a result, society and the broader economy.”
