Art lovers and their four-legged darlings can enjoy a rare exhibition together at "Wednesday: All Over The Place", which is running daily from 10am to 8pm until Sept 6 at RCB Galleria 2, 2nd floor of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24.
This is the second solo exhibition by Paphakorn Srikunrayakorn, aka Newyear, an illustrator and contemporary pop artist recognised for her imaginative characters inspired by animals and geometric forms.
The artist invites visitors to embark on a journey with Wednesday, an introverted dachshund character widely regarded as her signature work. She has used this beloved character as a vessel for storytelling, exploring themes of imperfection, vulnerability, small moments of happiness and the inevitable disappointments that accompany learning to navigate the world.
Presenting a story about gradually coming to know oneself through moments that are imperfect and solitary, the exhibition has five distinct zones that take visitors to explore the inner world of Wednesday, who has never been particularly confident in herself.
The "Wednesday In A Loop" zone features a simulated maze of thoughts that reflects the state of overthinking. Wednesday is trapped in a loop of her own mind and fear leaves her circling the exact same spot, waiting for a sense of certainty that never arrives.
"After Long Thinking" tells the story of gathering a small scrap of courage -- a tiny spark that gives Wednesday the strength to open the door and stick her head out to look the wide world in the eye for the very first time.
"Out Of Comfort" is filled with colours and mixed emotions, blending both excitement and anxiety as Wednesday chooses to open her heart to these differences, observing them with her own eyes and capturing the memories with all the heart she has.
In the "Time For Self-reflection", Wednesday discovers that the answers to life might not be hidden at some faraway destination, but rather in the spaces and stillness along the path she has already walked.
"Perfectly Imperfect" is the final destination of the journey where Wednesday now understands that there are so many things in this world beyond her control, and being yourself doesn't require perfection at all.
This is the first time that River City Bangkok has allowed pet parents and their furry family members to explore the heartwarming exhibition side by side. However, all pets should remain tucked inside a stroller or pet carrier.
Tickets cost 100 baht per person and 150 baht for one person accompanied by an unlimited number of pets.
