'Bring Partey and Aouar to the carpet!' - Arsenal fans in meltdown over Emiliano Martinez bid

Arsenal fans have been reacting to reports that Aston Villa have made a new bid for Emiliano Martinez.

Having moved to Arsenal's academy in 2010 after playing in Independiente's youth ranks, Martinez had to wait until last season to finally make his mark in the Gunners' first-team after Bernd Leno suffered an injury.

His impressive form prompted plenty of speculation over his future when Leno returns to fitness.

Arsenal's remaining transfer priority

Last month, The Athletic reported that the Gunners were ready to cash in on the 28-year-old as he seeks to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming season.

Furthermore, the report stated that while the ex-head of football Raul Sanellhi had set an asking price of £20m, Martinez was hopeful the north London outfit would halve their valuation to £10m.

However, it would appear that the Gunners have refused to soften their stance.

According to an update from The Athletic, Aston Villa have made a second bid for Martinez, which is said to be closer to their £20million valuation.

In addition, the report states that Martinez will not be allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium until a suitable replacement is signed amid links to Brentford’s David Raya.

As expected, this reported new bid from Aston Villa has garnered a big response on social media.

Some Arsenal fans backing the idea to accept the offer - but only if the funds are used to buy either Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar.

Amid all the speculation, Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta selected Martinez ahead of Leno for the Community Shield clash with Liverpool last month and explained his decision to do so.

"I have two fantastic goalkeepers, I think Emi (Martinez) finished the season really strong," Arteta told BT Sport ahead of kick-off.

"He was our goalkeeper in the FA Cup and he deserves to play this final."
