'Bring on the Premier League!' - Matty Cash opens up on decision to sign new Nottingham Forest contract

Matty Cash is dreaming of the Premier League after signing a new long-term contract with Nottingham Forest.

Cash with the Reds, after an excellent start to the season under Sabri Lamouchi.

The 22-year-old joined Forest’s Academy when he was just 17, and started life as an attacking midfielder.

But Lamouchi has switched him to right-back this season, and he has made the position his own.

“So, so happy to have signed a new contract with NFFC,” Cash posted on Instagram. “Love The Reds and thrilled to continue my development with this fantastic team!

“Also a big thank you to the coach and everyone involved at the club, including Gary Brazil and his team for all the work they did with coming through the academy to get me here.

“Thank you to the supporters out there, I genuinely couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!

“Bring on the Premier League!!!!!”

Cash has scored twice in 19 appearances in all competitions this season for Forest, who sit fourth in the table and look like genuine promotion contenders.

“It’s unbelievable,” Cash told the club’s official website.

“I remember when I came here four or five years ago as a 17-year-old lad, walking out at the City Ground. Looking at the City Ground thinking ‘I would love to play here one day’.

“Four years here so far is a dream come true, coming from playing college football to playing for one of the biggest clubs in England is a dream come true.

“I’m really happy and delighted to continue my progress here and sign a new contract.”
