'Bring on relegation battle!' - Arsenal fans fume as Premier League fixtures released

Arsenal now know their fixture list of the new Premier League season after fixtures were released this morning.

The season feels like it has only just ended, but excitement for the new season is impossible to prevent on Fixture Release Day, even if there are another 59 days to wait until the new campaign gets going.

And on that opening day, we now know Arsenal will play their first-ever game at the Brentford Community Stadium as they take on the newly-promoted Bees.

Mikel Arteta's first home game of the season follows, taking on rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium ahead of another difficult clash, against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The first north London derby of the season arrives shortly after, on September 25, at home, while Arteta's men now know they will finish the season at home to Everton.

That final game comes after a run-in made up of Manchester United, Leeds United and Newcastle United in what will be seen as a mixed run-in, though three of the games are at home.

Though, it's the start of the season that is causing the most concern with those games against Chelsea and City back-to-back and within the first three outings.

Both of those teams are expected to be serious title contenders next season, and that does not make things easy for Arteta with pressure on the Spaniard to start well.

Here's what fans have said about that tough opening and the schedule for next term as a whole on Twitter.

@AFCktav - "Literally sign someone to cope with Chelsea and Man City."

Official_AJ1 - "Tough start."

@EliudMakori - "So that's one point from the first 3 games."

@H20wes - "The race to 11th is on."

@Fabinthin04 - "Chelsea and city in first 3 games? Bring on relegation battle."

@Husam_Hamdi - "We have 3 away games from the first 4."
