Brilliant video show shares nostalgic memories of NI Christmases gone by

It’s the holiday season and a new BBC show is set to take us a sleigh ride down memory lane.

'A Northern Irish Christmas ' is a one-off festive special that unwraps Northern Ireland’s favourite yuletide memories, old and more recent.

The show, which airs on BBC One Northern Ireland on Wednesday December 23 at 7.30pm, sees families, friends and couples reminisce about their own stand out Christmas moments, as well as reflecting on some of the biggest seasonal events from years gone by.

It shares clips from unforgettable festive moments from the past, including Bill Clinton switching on the Christmas lights at Belfast City Hall, or the impact of Band Aid’s hit song ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’ on the UK as a whole.

Viewers can get nostalgic watching unseen archive material from years gone by and enjoy some festive cheer and frivolity from the families and couples brave enough to share their own memorable Christmas antics.

Stories include how a Belfast toyshop made dreams come true for children in the seventies and eighties, what it’s like being a pantomime dame for 25 years - and how Kylie Minogue inspired one super fan’s Christmas drag act.

A Northern Irish Christmas is an Afro-Mic production for BBC Northern Ireland and will be broadcast on Wednesday 23 December at 7.30pm on BBC One Northern Ireland. It will also be available on iPlayer.
