A brilliant performance from Clan Des Obeaux in the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase saw the Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old record back-to-back victories in the Boxing Day showpiece at Kempton.
Deserted this year by jockey Harry Cobden in favour of stablemate Cyrname, Sam Twiston-Davies took over in the saddle and the two horses were virtually together jumping the third-last.
But stamina quickly became an issue for Cyrname, and Clan Des Obeaux (11-2) galloped on relentlessly over the last two fences to triumph by 21 lengths from the 5-4 favourite, giving Nicholls an 11th win in the race.
