The Morpho Room will be open to the public starting Saturday at Huis Ten Bosch in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, displaying about 1,000 blue morpho butterfly specimens from such areas as Central and South America.

As the specimens hang on the walls, the butterflies' wings glow a cobalt blue, and visitors are surrounded by digital images of the insects flying around the room. This exhibit is part of the "World's Most Beautiful Insects Exhibition," which is scheduled to be held through Sept. 6 at the theme park.

About 300 insect specimens collected by Etsuzo Tsukada, an internationally renowned insect collector, will be on display. The exhibit will also feature large photos taken by Koshu Endo.

"I hope families will come and enjoy the exhibit," Endo said.
