Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation says no water logging at Khar west

MUMBAI: BMC on Saturday claimed that water drained out in record time near Jayabharat Society in Khar (west). The BMC said it permanently solved the problem of water-logging during heavy rain in the low-lying areas of Jayabharat Society in Khar (west).

Officials said the BMC had constructed a new rainwater drain of about 915 metres for this area and completed ancillary work.

Former Congress corporator Asif Zakaria thanked BMC and wrote a letter on behalf of citizens.

“Some obstructions were found at railway culverts. A new square drain was constructed. Construction of a drain of 1.5 metres and about 915 metres length was completed before May-end, before the onset of this year’s monsoon. About Rs4.6 crore was spent on this work,” the BMC said.
