There was the title hangover at the Etihad, then a laboured win over Aston Villa on Sunday. So are Liverpool ripe for an upset defeat at Brighton on Wednesday?
We asked our Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst for his assessment and best bets ahead of the long trip south.
Win, lose or draw?
Has to be an away win, doesn't it? Liverpool have won all but four of their games this season and have been beaten just three times in the last 71 Premier League games.
Despite a lethargic limp to three more points against Aston Villa on Sunday, I still think a half-interested Reds will have too much for Brighton. The Reds are 6/10 with thepools.com to do just that, while those with their eyes on an upset can get 5/1 on a home win .
Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?
Thinking somewhat left-field, how about Virgil van Dijk? The Dutch defender is known to get himself on the end of some inviting set-pieces from Trent Alexander-Arnold having netted four times this season. Mane, Salah and Firmino are perhaps the obvious ones, so why not try the optimistic one with Liverpool's No.4? He's certainly an optimistic price at 5/1 anytime scorer and 14/1 to score the opening goal of the game.
Who's on pens?
That'll be Mo Salah. He's got Jamie Vardy in his sights as he chases a third successive Premier League Golden Boot, which is why he's an Evens anytime scorer tip and an appealing 16/5 to score first .
Will Liverpool keep a clean sheet?
Yes, three out of their last four since the restart have been clean sheets. That title-hangover at Manchester City, aside, Liverpool have been rock solid at the back. I don't see Brighton breaking that down on Wednesday night. Liverpool to win to nil is a very attractive 6/4 shout.
Yellow card?
Fabinho, perhaps? The Brazilian leads the way for cautions in the Reds' ranks this term with five.
