Brighton vs Crystal Palace LIVE – Latest score and goal updates from the Amex Stadium
It’s a fixture that has become England’s strangest derby. The clubs are separated by nearly 50 miles of M23 tarmac, but still have an intense rivalry that dates back to 1976 when they played each other five times in one season, including a three-legged FA Cup tie. Crystal Palace travel to the Amex on Tuesday looking to close the gap between them and the Seagulls to three points.
Both sides spent much of last season looking over their shoulders, and whilst both sit in 11th and 14th this time around it is still far too early to relax as the bottom half of the table remains tight. Hughton has form for building a stable ship in the Premier League with Newcastle and Norwich, and he is doing the same at Brighton as they sit nine points clear of the drop. Palace however, have more cause for concern. The Eagles are only three points above the relegation zone and only Huddersfield have scored fewer goals this season.
Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have scored seven goals between them this season, working overtime in the absence of a natural finisher up top. Meanwhile, Brighton possess just that in Glenn Murray who has scored seven of Brighton’s 16 goals this campaign. The Seagulls have been busy at the back, second only to Burnley for blocked shots and crosses.
Watford have their tails up now as Man City looked rocked by the goal. Gabriel Jesus employs the tactic of cheating by taking 5 and a half days to leave the pitch as Laporte comes on for him.
Delph loses the ball to Delofeu who squares it into the box. Doucoure mishits his header but puts the rebound into the net to give Watford some hope of a point.
Man City have dominated this game from start to finish. Sane wins a corner and puts it into the box. Watford get it clear but that only allows City to start a new attack.
Huddersfield are still searching for this equaliser. Hogg passes the ball to Pritchard who takes a shot form outside the box but Bournemouth manage to block it.
Mahrez puts the ball into the box from the right once again. Bernardo Silva heads the ball on and Gabriel Jesus puts his header wide of goal. Great chance for City to add to their tally.
City work the ball down the left wing, David Silva then runs it to the byline and squares it across the box. Bernardo Silva misses it in the centre but Mahrez claims it to the right of goal before smashing it into the back on the net.
Brighton vs Crystal Palace kicks off at 19:45 (GMT) on Tuesday 4th December

Player to watch:
There can only be one man. Wilfried Zaha is the cornerstone to everything daring and decisive for Palace. He ranks highly for successful take-ons this season and has even been given the responsibility of leading the line in a side that otherwise struggles for goals.
