Brighton teammate admits 'fear' of Moises Caicedo departure amid Manchester United 'interest'

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pervis Estupinan admits his teammates 'fear' Moises Caicedo will leave this summer amid Manchester United's reported interest.

United are rumoured to have had both Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister to their list of summer midfield options - the latter has since joined Liverpool for around £35million - with Erik ten Hag keen on adding quality and depth in that area of the pitch.

Ecuador international Caicedo would be brought in to provide competition and cover for Casemiro, who despite an outstanding debut season at Old Trafford, missed several games through suspension and turned 31 earlier this year.

After an incredible season on the south coast, Caicedo's future looks increasingly likely to continue elsewhere. And Seagulls teammate Estupinan has suggested his exit could be on the cards.

"Having a player of Moi’s characteristics, we all fear that he will leave," Estupinan said (via the Argus). "If he stays, I will be very happy to keep playing alongside him and enjoying his football.

"If he goes, I will wish him all the best because he is a good lad, a good professional and he is a machine. If he leaves, we will be opponents and all I’ll ask is he doesn’t give me a whack because he is very strong!"

Brighton have made no secret of their willingness to sell for the right price and have often seen their top players move on. Speaking in May, manager Roberto De Zerbi seemed to suggest that both Mac Allister and Caicedo will likely move on in the summer.

"Of course we will lose some players - maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister," De Zerbi told Sky Sports after his side beat Arsenal 3-0. "We have to be ready to bring in another good players, and the others, for [Kaoru] Mitoma and [Pervis] Estupinan, I think for them the best solution is to stay with us."
