Brighton star Julio Enciso breaks silence on Man City transfer links and names three players he admires

Brighton sensation Julio Enciso says he has heard nothing from his agent about a potential move to Manchester City.

Rumours connecting him with a surprise move to the Etihad suggest he is on Pep Guardiola’s radar as the Blues boss looks for the next wave of midfield talent amid the potential exits of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan.

Enciso, 19, took the Premier League spotlight towards the end of the campaign and scored one of the goals of the season in Brighton’s draw with City last month. That was his fourth goal in his club's final 14 Premier League matches, also finishing the season on three assists.

The likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo are expected to leave the Seagulls this summer, although a move away for Enciso seems less likely with boss Roberto De Zerbi saying of the Paraguayan: "If he stays with us I think for sure, he can improve."

The player himself says he has received no contract from Premier League champions City as of yet.

Speaking about the speculation, he told Tigo Sports: "My agent didn't tell me anything about that. The same thing happened when I moved to Brighton.

“I think if it's going to happen, it will and if not then I need to continue to work hard. It gives me a lot of motivation to have teams show interest."

Enciso has had quite the rise since making his Premier League debut against Chelsea in October, making ten starts in the competition since, including against Manchester United, Arsenal and City.

He named which players had stood out to him during his time on the pitch, picking a trio of City stars and one United player. Enciso said: "I like to look at a lot of players, like [Marcus] Rashford. He's a lightning bolt. He's so fast.

“[Kevin] De Bruyne is a great player, Bernardo Silva too. He's small but it's impossible to get the ball away from him. [Phil] Foden is someone I like too, he's the first person I swapped my shirt with."
