Brighton stance on Steve Cooper revealed amid Nottingham Forest fears

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is currently "not an option" to fill the managerial vacancy on Brighton & Hove Albion..

The Seagulls are looking for a new manager after Graham Potter left to take charge of Chelsea earlier this week, with Cooper named as a potential replacement.

Cooper has received a lost of justified praise following the way he turned Forest around last season, taking the team from the foot of the Championship table to the Premier League in just eight months.

That success earned him links to Brighton, with several outlets reporting that the south coast club were keen on talking to the Reds chief. Those reports have now been dismissed, with Brighton's definitive stance seemingly revealed.

The Daily Telegraph report: "The Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is not an option currently, although he has been mentioned in connection with the job."

The word 'currently' is a key one there, as things can change rapidly in football, but for now it is great news for Nottingham Forest and their supporters. Cooper's focus, for now, remains firmly on Forest, with a game against Fulham coming up on Friday (subject to potential postponement ) and the international break that follows.
