Brighton seafront on lockdown after three men struck by car during brawl

Three men have been injured - two seriously - after being struck by a car during a mass brawl on the seafront in Brighton.

Police were called to reports of a fight in the Marine Parade at around 5.20am on Sunday.

While responding, it was reported some of the group had got into a car which then struck three men involved in the fight.

The men were rushed to hospital, where two are still being treated for serious head injuries.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is in custody.

The vehicle was later found abandoned, Sussex Police said.

Detective Inspector Chris Thompson said: "This is a fast moving investigation and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information about it to come forward.

"Marine Parade is currently closed between the pier roundabout and Camelford Street while we carry out enquiries and I would like to thank the public for their patience."

The incident is not terror-related.
