Brighton outline Ben White plan as Marcelo Bielsa makes Leeds United FA Cup admission

Here is your Leeds United digest for Friday, January 15.

Bielsa's admission

Marcelo Bielsa admits it is fair to say his side were humiliated in their defeat to League Two Crawley Town.

The Whites were dumped out of the FA Cup with a 3-0 defeat to their lower-league opponents in a shock result last weekend.

Bielsa says criticism that has come Leeds' way is justified and he will be looking at how other teams have reacted to similar shocks to learn what to do with his side.

He said: "I can't say anything different to what I've already said. Of course, the interpretation of what the opponent did was heroic, was a miracle, was very good.

"We were humiliated and ridiculed by the opponent. The result allows you to come to these conclusions. When the weaker teams wins the interpretation is that you can have what was said.

"It's natural, logical and fair that is so. There were 60 positions between the two teams.

"This is Crawley's best result in their history. This is Leeds' fifth-worst loss in their history. So, all the conclusions are fair. Like in all the cases where it doesn't go well, we try to look at why the things that we didn't want to happen happened.

"We see also the treatment that other teams receive in similar situations.

"Like for example, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid who were also were dumped out of the cup, but of course we can't compare ourselves to them.

"They suffered similar defeats to the one we suffered. I always look to see the treatment that these teams have towards their losses and I try to extract whatever I can to bring to my team."

Brighton's White plan

Graham Potter is adamant that Ben White will not be sidetracked by sentiment when he is reunited with Leeds this weekend.

The Brighton defender spent last season on loan at Elland Road and enjoyed a successful time, with the Whites launching a failed bid to sign the player permanently.

Yet he stayed at the Seagulls and Potter says White is professional enough to put emotions aside this weekend.

"He can be proud of his time there. He helped them and they helped him. It was a perfect loan," said Potter to the Brighton & Hove Independent.

"He speaks highly of everything at Leeds United and is very respectful of how they helped him and progressed his career because it was a fantastic time for him.

"But he is our player now and I am sure he will want to try to get the points against them."

Bamford's career plan

Patrick Bamford has admitted he is unsure about his future career plans when he hangs up his playing boots.

Leeds midfielder Adam Forshaw has spoken previously about how Marcelo Bielsa's influence has inspired him to become a coach when he retires.

Whilst Bamford hailed the way the Leeds boss can impart tactical knowledge, he admits he is unsure if a career in management would suit him.

"I think he's brought on that side of my game so much, in terms of being tactically aware," Bamford told the Leeds United Podcast.

"With football, you give up so much time, being at hotels and stuff, I don't know if I would want to be a manager. I'm undecided.

"I think I'd quite like to do what Jermaine Beckford does, something to do with punditry. I don't know about management yet."
