Brighton make stadium decision that affects Everton and Liverpool

Supporters attending matches at Brighton for the 2021/22 Premier League season must have an NHS COVID Pass or proof of a negative lateral flow test to gain access to the stadium.

This change will take place with immediate effect and will impact Everton and Liverpool fans traveling to the Amex Stadium.

Other clubs have also followed suit in recent weeks, with Chelsea recently confirming that fans must be fully vaccinated or have proof of a negative COVID test to gain entry.

It is expected that government guidance will be updated so that this rule applies to all 20 Premier League clubs, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Explaining their decision to adopt a clear stance on the matter, a Brighton club statement read:

"In anticipation of likely mandatory stadium entry requirements from 1 October 2021, we will be requesting proof of COVID status for entry to the Amex with immediate effect.

"This will allow us to review and, where necessary, to refine or update our stadium entry processes in time for likely mandatory requirements with effect from 1 October 2021.

"We will therefore require all match, season and away ticket holders aged 18 and over to produce an NHS COVID Pass or proof of a negative lateral flow test alongside photographic ID to enter the Amex with immediate effect."

A valid NHS COVID Pass can be accessed via the NHS app or online, meanwhile proof of a negative lateral flow test must have been taken within 48 hours of kick-off and can be shown using the NHS COVID Pass or in the form of an official NHS email or text.

Photo ID must also be used in both instances, to confirm the identity of the name listed.

Everton make the trip to Brighton on August 28, with Jurgen Klopp's side heading to the Amex on March 12.
