Brighton injury blow as five ruled out against Nottingham Forest

Brighton are expected to be without six players for the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming that Evan Ferguson is not expected to be fit for the game.

Forest host the Seagulls at the City Ground on Wednesday night in a game which could be crucial in their fight against relegation. The Reds sit in 19th place in the table, but are just one point behind Leicester City in 17th, although they do have a worse goal difference.

The game comes just three days after Brighton played 120 minutes against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semi-final. Albion eventually lost the game 7-6 on a penalty shootout.

The match also saw striker Danny Welbeck leave the field injured after 75 minutes. De Zerbi has confirmed that the former Man United and Arsenal man could be fit in time to feature against Forest, with Evan Ferguson, who missed the game at Wembley, also expected to be ruled out.

"It's too early to think about the first XI, we will see tomorrow. There aren't big problems,” the Brighton boss said on Tuesday, via SussexLive .

"I think for Welbeck there is no problem for tomorrow and about Ferguson I don't want to take any risk with him. We have another nine games. Maybe he can be important for the last eight if there is some risk."

The news means that Brighton’s injury list is expected to stay the same as the weekend. Midfielders Adam Lallana and Jakub Moder, right-back Tariq Lamptey and winger Jeremy Sarmiento are all on the sidelines.

Forest, meanwhile will be without defender Scott McKenna who suffered a broken collarbone in the first half of the loss against Liverpool. The injury will see the 26-year-old miss the remainder of the season.
