Brighton & Hove Albion vs Newcastle United: Premier League preview

Newcastle United head to Brighton with the mood as good as it has been in years but face a tough test against an Albion side who beat Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

The 2-1 win was full deserved and could have been an even heavier scoreline for the Seagulls in the North-West. Now though they must show they can do it at the Amex Stadium.

And they will be facing a Newcastle side who play with no fear with a familiar 4-3-3 formation. Bruno Guimaraes pulls the strings in midfield and Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron provide the service for Callum Wilson.

Lee Ryder's prediction

Newcastle have suffered some sorry defeats at Brighton down the years but will be confident of getting a big result this time around. With the confidence flowing around the team I expect them to take the game to Graham Potter's side.

Wilson will be looking for another goal or two and I can see Newcastle emerging with the three points. I'll go for a 3-1 win for the Magpies.

Referee

Graham Scott (Oxfordshire)

Scott drifts between the Premier League and the Championship but this is his first appointment in the top-flight this term. He took charge of Luton's bore draw with Birmingham two weeks ago so will be hoping for a bit more excitement on the South Coast.
