Brighton hit and run: Two arrested following incident which left man with serious injuries

A man, 31, and a woman, 53, have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Brighton last week, Sussex Police say.

A Fiat 500 came around the corner of Montagu Place at speed, hitting a 53-year-old man and sending him flying into the air.

The victim was left with serious injuries. CCTV images of the incident were released by the police in an appeal for information.

The man was arrested while attempting to hide on a roof. He was charged on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury, attempting to pervert the course of justice and aggravated vehicle taking.

The woman has charged with perverting the course of justice, police say.

Sgt Dan Pitcher said: "We would like thank everyone who has shared the video and given us information. We are still appealing to anyone with further information or was in the area when it happened to please make contact on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Op Northdown."
