Brighton defender provides Liverpool with encouragement in title race with Man City

Brighton defender Shane Duffy has provided encouragement to Liverpool by issuing a stern message to Manchester City.

City travel to the AMEX Stadium knowing that a victory will be enough to retain the Premier League title by beating Liverpool to the punch, while a draw or a defeat would hand the opportunity to the Reds to end their 29-year wait for a title.

Liverpool host high-flying Wolves at Anfield on Sunday, where they will be encouraged by their remarkable comeback in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

While City are expected to beat Brighton, Everton old boy Duffy has warned that his side will give everything to secure a memorable result for the home fans - which would open the door for Jurgen Klopp’s side to lift the Premier League.

“It’s been a tight (title) race and it's come down to the final game of the campaign,” he told the Brighton & Hove Independent .

Tottenham star a doubt for Champions League final against Liverpool after leaving Ajax on crutches

“We know we’ll have to defend well again and try and be at our best – we’ll just try to win the game, if they beat us then they win the league and it’s as simple as that, so we’ll just go out there with a determination and belief that we can get a result.

“We know the occasion, but we have to focus on ourselves in the final game of the season in front of our home fans.”

Brighton have narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League this season but could climb above Southampton in the this weekend if results go their way.
