Brighton dealt Lewis Dunk blow ahead of Tottenham clash

Brighton are set to be without captain Lewis Dunk for the game against Tottenham later this month following his dismissal against Crystal Palace.

The Seagulls skipper was sent off in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park this afternoon, with Dunk seeing red after a reckless challenge on Palace defender Gary Cahill.

Dunk was shown a straight red by referee Stuart Attwell, with the Brighton captain now set to miss three games for the Seagulls.

That includes Brighton's trip to face Tottenham in north London on Sunday, November 1, with Dunk now set to serve a three-match suspension.

There were few complaints from the Brighton players, with Dunk left to trudge off to the dressing room, after Alexis Mac Allister had equalised for the Seagulls, cancelling out Wilfried Zaha's first half penalty.

But Brighton will now have to cope without their captain for several weeks, with Dunk now set to serve a three-match suspension, unless the Seagulls decide to appeal.

Dunk is a key player for Brighton, and prior to today, he had not missed a minute of Premier League football for the Seagulls this season, while he made 36 appearances for Graham Potter's side in the league last season.

Brighton's next three fixtures in the Premier League are at home against West Bromwich Albion, away against Tottenham Hotspur and at home against Burnley.

Another international break will follow the game against Burnley, meaning that Dunk is now facing several weeks on the sidelines, with the Seagulls' next game after the break being a trip to face Aston Villa on November 21.
