Brighton chief hands Arsenal huge boost in Yves Bissouma transfer chase

Brighton chief Paul Barber is open to the possibility of allowing Yves Bissouma to join Arsenal this summer.

football.london understands that the Gunners will be in the transfer market to sign players in at least five positions in the coming months, and Bissouma could fit into that with Mikel Arteta keen to improve his midfield.

Bissouma has impressed for Brighton this season as they once again beat the Premier League drop, and he is now being linked with a price tag of more than £40million.

And amid those links, Brighton chief Barber has opened up on the possible transfer, taking a surprise view on the idea of one of the Seagulls' star men joining Arsenal this summer.

"I don't see it as a negative at all," he told The Athletic. "The more the big clubs that are interested in our players, the more we're doing right, so I am delighted with that.

"We know some of our best players aren't going to be with us forever and, if the right offer comes along – and it has to be the right offer – and they want to leave, then they can go.

"If we've got players leaving, then we've got back-up internally, and we can go out into the transfer market.

"We're always looking ahead, we're always trying to scout the best young players and bring them into our squad, or loan them out. It's a really important part of what we do."

Bissouma's possible move to Arsenal has been dominating headlines in recent days after some possible Instagram hints which have seen Gunners shirts pop up in images.

And it seems Arsenal do have every chance of landing him, as long as they are willing to meet Brighton's valuation, with Barber not likely to put up a fight to keep the Mali international.
