Leeds United may have been given some fresh hope in their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White.
The Whites are keen on bringing the 22-year-old back to Elland Road, but this time on a permanent basis after his outstanding displays whilst on loan during the 2019/20 campaign.
At the Leeds United end of season awards, ceremony White was named as the club's Young Player of the Year for playing a key role in helping Marcelo Bielsa's side earn promotion to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.
Furthermore, White, who racked up 49 appearances across all competitions, was voted as LeedsLive's Player of the Season by supporters which made their transfer priority very clear.
And they just might get their wish as Brighton chief Tony Bloom has suggested there could be movement in terms of central defenders during the summer transfer window.
"I’m not going to speculate on whether we may or may not get offers for many of our players," Bloom told the Athletic.
"We certainly do have an abundance of centre-backs and there are constant discussions between myself and Graham and Dan (Ashworth, technical director) and the recruitment team about what our needs are, what’s going to be happening.
"There will be some players who go out on loan at some point during pre-season or the first few weeks of the season.
"There are lots of things to make decisions on, but it’s a really good thing that we’ve got some very good players in our squad, not all of whom will be in our squad come the end of the transfer window."
White, himself has refused to rule out a return to Elland Road.
"Having had some time to reflect on what has been the most incredible season, I wanted to take the time to thank everyone associated with Leeds United Football Club, including the incredible supporters," he wrote on social media.
"No matter what happens from here I will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one."
Interestingly, Brighton bolstered their centre-back options even further with the signing of Joel Veltman from Ajax last week.
The fee taking the Netherlands international to the Amex Stadium is believed to be in the region of £900,000, according to the Mail, and it could have an impact on White's future.
That deal coupled with Bloom's comments could turn out to be fantastic news for Leeds and Bielsa.
