Brighton boss Graham Potter makes vow ahead of Newcastle United visit to Amex Stadium

Brighton boss Graham Potter knows that his side have the psychological edge going into Saturday night's clash at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls swooped for three points in the South Coast derby on Saturday to clinch a vital win that allowed them to climb above United.

The Magpies may need to win away to Albion in order to get out of the relegation zone with the pressure intensifying at the bottom over the weekend.

Fulham step up first on Friday night at home to Leeds before Brighton and Newcastle face off in East Sussex.

Potter said: "It's not about breathing space for us because we can’t worry about other teams.

"We can only focus on us and winning points – we don’t have enough as it is.

"We have to keep working and focus on the next match which is Newcastle on Saturday.

"We managed to see out the result and I felt we were quite comfortable in the second half to be honest, even though the score was only 2-1.

"There were a few butterflies at the end though."

Brighton already have one doubt ahead of the clash on Saturday with 6ft 7in Geordie defender Dan Burn suffering an injury at Southampton.

Potter says: "We managed to adapt really well after we lost Dan Burn at half-time to a tight hamstring."
