Brighton announce Graham Potter replacement ahead of Premier League meeting with Liverpool

Brighton have confirmed the managerial appointment of Roberto De Zerbi, whose first game in charge of the club will come against Liverpool next month.

The Seagulls have been on the lookout for an individual to fill this position after losing Graham Potter to Chelsea, who bid farewell to the club after a successful three-year spell.

De Zerbi has agreed a four-year deal with Brighton and arrives in the Premier League having predominantly coached in Italy, taking charge of the likes of Palermo and Sassuolo. His most recent role was at Shakhtar Donetsk, though the 43-year-old left the club in July of this year amid the situation in Ukraine following Russia's invasion earlier this year.

Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana had been serving as assistant head coach on a temporary basis on the back of Potter's exit and was due to be in the dugout for Brighton's away trip to Bournemouth last weekend, though the game did not take place due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Brighton fought back from two goals to earn a point at Anfield last season and will be looking to utilise their new manager bounce, as is often witnessed in football, when they visit Merseyside in the first game back after the international break.
