Bright Osayi-Samuel transfer update as Celtic linked winger assesses QPR option

Celtic linked QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel is edging towards a new deal at Loftus Road, according to his boss Mark Warbuton.

The tricky wideman is out of contract at the end of the season and the £5m-rated 22-year-old could sign a Hoops pre-contract in January that would see him sign for just a nominal fee.

It's the same cross-border loophole that Rangers used to snare Joe Aribo away from Charlton for a fraction of his true value and the Ibrox club have also been mentioned as retaining an interest in some reports.

The winger was left out of the squad for his teams 3-0 defeat to Barnsley on Tuesday night after reports claimed he rejected the London club's latest offer.

But Warburton has moved to quell such notions and claimed that talks are going in the right direction.

He told West London Sport : “The contract talks are moving the right way.

“I just want Brighty to be nice and clear about his football.

“He trained very well today and we’ll see how he is for the weekend.”

“With any player, you just want them to concentrate on their football.

“So it’s about making sure their head’s in the right place and I very much hope that’s the case at the weekend.

“The talks are going on and Brighty’s a very valuable player for us.

“As a manager you’ve got to pick your best squad, especially when you have one or two injuries and a very tight squad.”

Celtic 's head of recruitment Gary Penrice is a former QPR scout and reportedly the driving force behind the Scottish Premiership outfit's interest.

Osayi-Samuel has a goal and an assist in seven games this season so far in the English Championship.
