'Bright future' - New signing's message for Nottingham Forest fans ahead of season

New signing Fouad Bachirou is looking forward to a “bright future” with Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder put pen to paper at the City Ground earlier in the week, joining on a two-year deal from Swedish side Malmo.

After agreeing terms, he linked up with his Reds teammates at Loughborough University, where they were based for a pre-season training camp.

And he will not have long to wait before Sabri Lamouchi’s team are in competitive action, with their Carabao Cup clash at Barnsley less than a week away.

Bachirou is new to the Championship, having started out at PSG as a youngster before going on to join Greenock Morton, in Scotland, and then Ostersunds, in Sweden.

With matches still taking place behind closed doors, there will be no Forest fans to welcome him when he does make his debut.

But the 30-year-old hopes it will not be long before crowds are back in stadiums, and when they are, he is eager to play his part as the Reds target promotion this term.

In a message to supporters, he wrote on Twitter: “Delighted to be here at @NFFC.

"Let’s go!! Can’t wait to get started and meet all the #nffc supporters for hopefully a bright future.”

Bachirou is one of five new additions the club have made so far this summer.

Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and Lyle Taylor all joined earlier in the window, while Luke Freeman arrived on loan from Sheffield United on Friday.
