Brig o' Doon: New owners at popular fairy-tale wedding venue vow to 'protect its reputation and legacy'

The new owners of Alloway’s Brig o’ Doon House Hotel have today spoken of their pride at taking the reigns at Ayrshire’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’ wedding venue.

Husband and wife team Robert and Vivien Kyle, will take over the fairy-tale wedding venue, restaurant and bar on Monday, October 3 after they purchased the hotel from Ayrshire business tycoon Bill Costley for an undisclosed fee.

Earlier this month Ayrshire Live exclusively revealed how Mr Costley was selling the hotel as part of a restructuring of his portfolio.

We also told how Mr Costley planned to concentrate his efforts on his other properties which includes the likes of Lochgreen House Hotel and Highgrove House Hotel, both in Troon.

Now the new owners of the Brig, Robert and Vivien, who spearhead the Cumnock-based RAD Group, have vowed to protect the reputation and legacy of the iconic hotel.

In a joint statement they said: “It is a real privilege to take over from Bill and Cathy Costley.

“Both of our businesses pride themselves on having strong family values and we hope this will ease the transition of ownership and protect the reputation and legacy of this beautiful hotel.

“Like with all our hotels, we are passionate about ensuring guest experience is top priority and this will be no different with The Brig o’ Doon.

“We have a wealth of experience and will be concentrating firstly on meeting all wedding couples and satisfying guests' requirements as we go through the transition of acquiring such a remarkable venue.

“Investment and transitions to the venue will be done in keeping with the very essence and history of the hotel.

“We will also be supportive of the existing team during this transition and will announce further operational plans soon.”

Their statement adds: “We were recently reminded by a local piper - who at the age of 82 has visited many venues - that this type of opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime, so we couldn’t be more delighted that we are involved in this piece of Ayrshire history!

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing team at RAD for their support over the last few years. Without them we would not be where we are and for this, we say a huge thank you!”

The acquisition of the Brig o’Doon House Hotel adds to the RAD Group’s expanding portfolio which also includes: Lochside House Hotel, Spa and Lodges (New Cumnock), Carlton Hotel (Prestwick), Hetland Hall Hotel (Dumfries), Dalmeny Park Hotel (Barrhead) Royal Hotel, (Cumnock) and Radstone Hotel (Larkhall).
