BRIEF: Youth served on Cubs' roster

April 21--PITTSBURGH -- The arrival of second baseman Addison Russell will give the Chicago Cubs the youngest player in the National League.

And Russell will add to a Cubs' roster that will now have three of the six youngest players in the NL, according to CBS Sports.

Russell, at 21 years and 88 days (Jan. 23, 1994), replaces Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals, who was born on Oct. 16, 1992.

Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler, who was born on Feb. 25, 1992, is the fifth youngest player in the NL, followed by third baseman Kris Bryant (Jan. 4, 1992).

In addition to having three of the six youngest players in the NL, every member of the Cubs' starting infield -- first baseman Anthony Rizzo (25), Russell (21), shortstop Starlin Castro (25) and Bryant (23) -- are 25 or younger.

Pitcher Archie Bradley of Arizona (born on Aug. 10, 1992) and outfielder Joc Pederson of the Los Angeles Dodgers (April 21, 1992) are the third and fourth youngest players in the NL.
