BRIEF: Young child falls from window on South Side

Aug. 01--A young child was injured after falling out of a window Saturday morning in the South Shore neighborhood, authorities said.

The 2-year-old fell from a second-story window in the 8000 block of South Phillips Avenue about 11:30 a.m., said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The child was taken to Comer Children's Hospital for treatment, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Chief Jeff Lyle, who did not have information on the child's sex or condition.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was not immediately available for comment.
