May 27--Morrissey isn't is playing Riot Fest, per an announcement from the fest's promoter.
On May 18, Riot Fest, the punk music festival coming to Chicago's Douglas Park in September, announced that Morrissey was part of the lineup.
But a Morrissey fan site, True to You, that is also the official (though unofficial) Morrissey space, ran a note that "as of this date (May 23) Morrissey is not part of this year's Chicago Riot Fest." Media outlets reached out to the singer's handlers, to a wall of silence.
But now, Morrissey is performing at Chicago's Riot Fest stop. On True to You (again), the same officially unofficial website at which he denied he was playing Riot Fest, the mercurial British singer of Smiths fame announced that he will indeed play Chicago. Stay tuned.
