BRIEF: WR Corey Robinson elected Notre Dame student body president

Feb. 11--Corey Robinson ran routes as a receiver for Notre Dame's football team last fall.

The junior then ran for student body president this winter.

Late Wednesday night, Robinson learned he had been elected, along with his running mate Rebecca Blais, who will serve as vice president.

"One of the reasons I wanted to run for student body president was Becca," Robinson said Monday night during a debate on campus. "I could have graduated but I decided to come back for an entire year for this.

"I feel I have all these things I can contribute to the school."

Robinson, a son of Hall of Fame basketball player David Robinson, had some pretty well-known endorsers ahead of his election.

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Justin Tuck, who played at Notre Dame, appeared in a video online along with Spurs Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, and musician Jon Bon Jovi, whose son is on Notre Dame's roster.

Robinson had 16 catches for 200 yards and a touchdowns for the Irish last season.
