BRIEF: Worker injured in Hyde Park scaffolding collapse

Oct. 30--A 55-year-old man standing on scaffolding at a Hyde Park apartment building was injured when the scaffolding collapsed, Chicago police said.

The collapse happened next to a three-story apartment building in the 1400 block of East 54th Place, police spokeswoman Bari Lemmon said.

It's not clear what caused the collapse about 3:40 p.m.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and his wounds are non-life-threatening, Lemmon said.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said the man was taken to the hospital in serious-to-critical condition.
