May 13--At least six people, including a 50-year-old woman, have been wounded since Thursday evening on the city's West and South sides, police said.
Most recently, a 20-year-old man was seriously hurt in a shooting about 4:30 a.m. on the Far South Side, police said.
The man was sitting inside a vehicle in the 13000 block of South King Drive when an unknown attacker approached him and fired shots, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a police spokeswoman.
The man was shot in the back and arm, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.
About 9:50 p.m. Thursday, a 17-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man were wounded in a shooting in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The two were outside in the 6300 block of South Rhodes Avenue when unknown attackers approached and fired shots, Amezaga said.
The 17-year-old was shot in the ankle, and the older man was hit in the leg and foot. Both were taken to St. Bernard Hospital. The teen's condition stabilized, and the older man was listed in good condition, Amezaga said.
About 9:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
The man was standing outside in the 4800 block of West Ferdinand Avenue when a white vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, Gaines said.
The man was struck in the face, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
Four blocks north, about 7:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting, Gaines said.
The man was in the 900 block of North Lamon Avenue when he was shot in the hip. He managed to get to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
About 5:25 p.m., a 50-year-old woman was injured after being shot in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The shooting happened in the 8800 block of South Wood Street, police said. The woman was shot in an ankle and the buttocks, police said.
She was on the street when a green vehicle drove by and a passenger inside began firing, police said. The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where her condition had stabilized, police said.
No one was immediately in custody in the shootings.
