BRIEF: Woman's body found in burning garage on Southwest Side

Jan. 21--Detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning garage in the Marquette Park neighborhood late Monday night.

Police were called to the 6600 block of South Campbell Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Monday and determined a body had been found in a burning garage there, police said Tuesday.

The woman's body had extensive burns, authorities said.

The woman's identity had not yet been confirmed, and despite an autopsy Tuesday, the Cook County medical examiner's office did not reach a determination as to the cause and manner of her death, according to the office.

Detectives were conducting a death investigation.
