BRIEF: Woman robs Winnetka bank, suspected in Elmhurst heist

Nov. 07--A woman believed to have robbed an Elmhurst bank last week robbed a bank in Winnetka on Friday morning, authorities said.

The woman robbed the Chase branch at 791 Elm St. in the north suburb about 10:40 a.m., according to an FBI spokeswoman. The woman implied she was armed but did not show a weapon before escaping with cash.

The robber was described as white with a medium build, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6. She was wearing a gray cardigan, jeans and a long, dark leather jacket, according to FBI spokeswoman Diane Carbonara.

The woman is suspected of robbing a Bank of America branch at 205 N. Addison Ave. in Elmhurst about 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29, according to the FBI's BanditTrackerChicago website. The woman entered the bank, gave a note to a teller demanding money and left on foot with cash. She did not display a weapon in the Elmhurst robbery either.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call local police or the Chicago FBI office at 312-421-6700.
