BRIEF: Woman in her 70s killed while crossing street in Des Plaines

March 16--A 79-year-old Des Plaines woman who died after she was hit by a vehicle in the northwest suburb has been identified, authorities said Tuesday.

Angie Marines, of the 1700 block of East Morse Avenue in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital at 5:11 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Marines died from multiple blunt-force injuries from a motor vehicle hitting her, the office determined after an examination Tuesday.

Des Plaines police were called to Touhy Avenue and Maple Street about 4:30 p.m. Monday after Marines was hit, according to a news release from the Des Plaines Police Department.

Marines was crossing outside a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle heading west on Touhy, according to the release.

The investigation was not complete, and no charges have been filed in the case, according to police.
