BRIEF: Woman hurt in West Englewood stabbing

Nov. 16--A 24-year-old woman was hurt after being stabbed Sunday evening in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.

The woman was walking on the sidewalk in the 5500 block of South Oakley Avenue when a male attacker walked up to her from behind and stabbed her around 8:55 p.m., said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The woman suffered cuts to the head and the right side of her neck. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

No one was in custody as of early Monday.
