BRIEF: Woman held following weekend West Pullman slaying

Dec. 02--A 38-year-old woman is accused of fatally stabbing a suburban man as the two argued on the Far South Side over the weekend, authorities said.

Vanessa Sanders, 38, of the 5000 block of South Winchester Avenue in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, was charged with first-degree murder, said Cook County state's attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton.

The victim, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as 28-year-old Antone L. Sims, was arguing with a female acquaintance in an apartment in the 11500 block of South Perry Avenue late Saturday when she stabbed him in the chest and fled the scene, said police at the time.

Sims, of the 100 block of West Devoe Drive in Oswego, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and pronounced dead, according to the medical examiner's office. An autopsy Sunday determined Sims died of stab and multiple incise wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Sanders is slated to appear for a bond hearing Wednesday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, according to Simonton.
