BRIEF: Woman found fatally stabbed in Lansing

Sept. 01--Lansing police found a woman who had been stabbed to death when responding to a report of a domestic disturbance Tuesday morning.

According to a release from the south suburban village's Police Department, police were called to the 3700 block of 173rd Court for a domestic disturbance about 7:37 a.m. Tuesday.

Police found the woman's body inside one of the units at the apartment building there. She had been stabbed "several times," the release said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's age was unavailable.

In the release, police said a person of interest is in custody.

The Cook County medical examiner's office said it had not yet been notified about a body at that address.

The Lansing Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating, and the Illinois State Police were involved as well, assisting in the processing of the crime scene, the release said.
