May 14--Police are conducting a death investigation after a woman was found dead near train tracks early Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Police officers responded to the 4600 block of West Kinzie Street around 6:51 a.m. after getting a call of a person down and found the woman lying near railroad tracks in the area, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.
The woman, who appeared to be in her late 60s or early 70s, was unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.
Police did not immediately find any signs of visible trauma on the body of the woman.
Police are conducting a death investigation. No other information was immediately available.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
