BRIEF: Investigation continues into death of woman in Loop hotel room

Jan. 04--Authorities were investigating the death of a 55-year-old woman in a Loop hotel room.

Sharon Duke was pronounced dead at 7:36 a.m. Friday in a room on the 18th floor of the Wyndham Grand, 71 E. Upper Wacker Drive, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy for Duke, of the 10100 block of South Eberhart Avenue, was inconclusive and pending further tests, according to the medical examiner's office.

Officer Nicole Trainor, a spokeswoman for Chicago police, said the woman did not show any signs of trauma.

A representative of the hotel said the hotel had no comment.

Chicago Tribune's Karen Ann Cullotta and Jeremy Gorner contributed.
