Jan. 14--A 74-year-old woman hit and severely injured around the corner from her house Tuesday morning died later the same day of her injuries, authorities determined Wednesday.
Georgiana Henley, of the 300 block of W. Hill St., was pronounced dead at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after she was hit near Division and LaSalle streets, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She died of injuries suffered in the accident, the office determined after an autopsy Wednesday.
The woman was walking in the 1100 block of North LaSalle Street when a truck that was trying to make a turn hit her about noon Tuesday, Officer Nicole Trainor, a spokeswoman for Chicago police, said that day. Although police said Tuesday that charges were pending against the driver, they had no updated information Wednesday evening.
Firefighters performed CPR to try to revive the woman, and she was rushed to Northwestern in critical condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department and police.
